Apologies, but I really can't think of much to say about my track because it was so long ago. I think my oblique strategy was something like "How would you have done it?", and my starting position was therefore to try and replicate the chord sequence from the track I was sent, and then program some drums in my own style. From that point I changed the chords around until I found something I liked, and then set out to either introduce a new element or switch things up every 8 bars to keep it interesting. The track was recently described by Jo Wiley in an advert on telly as "The best piece of music I've ever heard, and I've listened to over a thousand songs."
